How Time Flies

Well it feels like forever since I was last on here. Working full time and being a mum doesn't allow for much else really.

I have recently been made redundant which is sad. I really loved my job. The company are down sizing dramatically they went from 4 sales managers to 2 and I was one of the unlucky ones. I am looking at it as time for a new challenge and in the meantime I am really enjoying being a stay at home mum.

My lil girl is now 15 months. Can you believe it. How fast do they grow up.

I am now looking forward to working from home selling jewellery and make up and I will maybe get some part time work until I ramp up the new business. I will see what happens. Check out the make up http://www.artistry.com/ and the jewellery at http://www.emmapagejewellery.com/ let me know if you want to place any orders. It really is a great product and I am very excited to be selling it.

I will update more often now that I have time.

Take care and I will talk to you all soon.

Zali Anne Has Arrived - My Birth Story

Well 3 days after my last post on here I was awoken at 5am with period pain cramps. They woke me so were niggly enough that I could not sleep. The first one came and went and I was like "Oh period pain, that is strange" I drifted back to sleep and then 20 mins later I was again woken by this period pain cramp. After the 3rd one and I was more awake and realized that these were contractions. I woke my hubby and he started rubbing my tummy to ease the pain. Each contraction was lasting 3-5minutes. I was just breathing my way through them. At 7am when they were now 10 minutes apart I called the hospital as I realized this could be the day that I got to meet my little girl. The hospital were convinced it was false labour so they asked me to take a hot bath/shower, take a panadol for the pain and move around to see if the contractions stopped. So I did…. And the contractions slowed but then came back regular again. I then tried sitting and relaxing, again the contractions slowed but then came back just as strong. At 9:30am I called the hospital back with the progress and they asked me to come in and get checked out.

I went to the birthing ward and they advised that they had absolutely no beds so they sent me to day ward where they would send a consultant down to check how far dilated I was. At 11am I was 1cm dilated. They advised that I should probably go home and it would probably stop anyway. I did not want to go home as I felt the contractions were not going to stop. I stayed at day ward, I was not able to eat anything as I would be having an emergency C Section if the contractions didn’t stop.

I sat there at day ward which is a large open room with a circle of comfy reclining chairs. I had my Doula on one side of my and my hubby on the other to comfort me and help me through each contraction which slowly became stronger and more frequent. I am sure this was quite an experience for all the onlookers in the room. By 1:30pm my contractions were 8 minutes apart and getting stronger. The lovely ladies in the Day ward would come and check on me to make sure I was OK, but they had no drugs or gas to offer me. I didn’t need it any way at that stage. By 2:00pm my contractions were now 5 minutes apart and I was advised that I would be going in for an emergency C Section as soon as they could fit me in. I was relieved as the pain was getting quite strong now and I was beginning to think that I would be having this baby sitting in the day ward recliner!! At 2:45pm They gave me my lovely theatre outfit and took me by wheel chair up to the theatre room. They gave my hubby a lovely little scrub outfit and he met me in the prep area where we met our Anaesthetist and our OB who would be performing the Caesarean, they asked us some questions and before we knew it, I was sitting on the operating bed getting my spinal block and catheter put in. About 5-10minutes after that I was told my baby would be here any second and for my hubby to get the camera ready. I heard the scream they dropped the screen and we saw our little girl for the first time…. MAN WHAT A FEELING, a Rush of emotions, as we confirmed the sex, a little girl! They quickly took her to the check out station where they rubbed her down, cleared her throat and put a little purple beanie on her head to keep her warm. Dad got to cut the cord and then they then rushed her over and put her on my chest so that I could bond with her straight away. I was crying with excitement and an overwhelming feeling of her arrival. We attempted a breast feed, but she was a little shocked by the whole experience so we just laid there, looking at each other in amazement.

Overall the whole experience was just amazing, very quick and the staff were just wonderful, very good at making you feel safe and comfortable.

Caesarean Booked

Well I am now 39 weeks pregnant and bub is still breech. I am now booked in for a C Section.... which is very exciting in one way that I know when bub will be born and I can prepare myself, on the other hand it is very daunting as I have to have surgery to deliver my baby!!

I know they perform lots of caesarean's these days and are routine surgeries, but it still does not thrill me that I am going to be cut open and have my baby delivered in such a way that is just not natural.

I have tried so many different things to get bub to turn.... Acupuncture, Moxybustion, Inversion, Ice, Music, Massage, I even went through with an ECV that I previously decided against (very painful and tummy now sore and bruised) and still no luck.

I have now accepted the fact that I will be having a C Section and have got my head into that space.

If anyone has any advice please feel free to share.

Cheers

Bub Is Still Breech

Well I am now 38 weeks and 2 Days and bub is still breech......

We went to have an External Version but decided against it at the last minute as it would be quite stressful for the baby and painful for me. Also if things went wrong we would end up with an emergency C Section which is what we are trying to avoid, so we decided not to go ahead.

I am now trying to do all sorts of things to get bub to turn. I am going to try an inversion position and an ice pack which is apparently quite good. I have tried acupuncture and that had no effect but I am going to give it another chance.

Has anyone out there had any success with turning breech babies?? Please share if you have. Starting to get scared that she will never turn and I will end up having a C Section anyway...

37 Weeks

Well I think I have done alright so far. Still no stretch marks and minimal things to complain about really. At exactly 37 weeks I started to get pelvic pain, started out fine in the morning and by the end of the day it felt like I had been riding a horse all day. Still rather uncomfortable pain in the pelvic region but I can still walk OK. My ankles have only just started to swell up so not bad really. Apart from this I am still sleeping fine and only having to wake up once during the night for a pee break. So really I cannot complain at all.

I finished up work on Friday and that felt really good. Don't get me wrong I love my job, but I am now able to concentrate wholly and solely on bub which is nice. I went shopping out at DFO yesterday and got some great bargains from Pumpkin Patch buy 1 item and get 1/2 price off the second, and then 20% off store wide at Kid Factory, so I got some cute little outfits. You can really go crazy with all the cute baby clothes out there can't you.

I don't think that my tummy has really grown that much since my last post at 34 weeks, But I have attached an updated picture so you can be the judge.

Still not much to report on except bub is still Breech and I have an appointment with the Hospital on Wednesday to get an ECV if bub hasn't moved. Currently she is still in the same position as last time but you never know she could turn around before Wednesday..... Here's hoping. I tried 2 trips to the acupuncturist and bub did not move at all, I would not be surprised if she hasn't gotten her little bottom wedged in my pelvis and is unable to move, but Wednesday will shed light on that.

I will keep you all posted with my and bubs progress.

Bye for now
